Fort Bend Green was approached by the County Judge Bob Hebert in 2012 about the former Gordon Ranch property located in Fort Bend County on FM 359. The Judge asked Fort Bend Green to contact the owner, Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center, about the interest in selling the property. The property is a beautiful 112-acre ranch located at 7714 FM 359, Richmond, Texas 77469, and was used for public rental for special events.
Fort Bend Green worked with the property owners and a negotiated a price, and then facilitated funding sources so the property would become a County Park at no expense to the County. The contract for the purchase of this property had a deadline or the purchase would not be completed. Fort Bend Green successfully found funding sources to meet the deadline.
During this process Fort Bend Green became aware that the YMCA was looking for County Park property to use for its programs. For a small fee, Fort Bend Green facilitated a Memorandum of Understanding between the YMCA and Fort Bend County where YMCA would staff and maintain the property to use for YMCA programs. The Park would also be available to County Residents for a fee, similar to the current usage at that time of the facility.
After the Fort Bend County took possession of the property the name was changed to the Jones Creek Ranch Park. The park is still used for public rental for special events, in addition to the YMCA use for summer camp activities.
The park includes the following facilities:
The open air Amphitheater is a unique facility complete with a stage, serving areas, restrooms, and gathering space with tables and benches on one side. Outside the Amphitheater there are volleyball nets and horseshoes pits for the exclusive use of your group.
The Lodge is the perfect location for large picnics, holiday parties, sports banquets and other special events. This unique facility is 7,000 square feet with air-conditioning and heating; two sides are windows overlooking beautiful grounds and a patio. A limestone fireplace adds to the warmth of any event and a 12’ X 24’ stage is perfect for bands, performances or DJs. Horseshoe pits and volleyball courts are located near the Lodge.
There are four large open-air pavilions. Each 2,500 square foot pavilion is located on a two-acre shaded private area. The pavilions include restrooms, service sinks, BBQ pits, volleyball nets, horseshoes pits and picnic tables under the trees.
